North Andover — Mrs. Betty Ann L. Glasgow, 86, beloved wife of Theodore A. Glasgow, passed from this life on the Fourth of July, 2013, with her family by her side.
Born October 25th 1927, in Springfield, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Thora Larson and sister to cherished brother Kenneth, all now deceased. She attended North Park Junior College in Chicago, Ill., and received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from Springfield College. Always a trailblazer, Betty Ann was a graduate of the first co-ed baccalaureate class of Springfield College.
Her early career focused on guiding young people at institutions including the YWCA in Kansas City, Ashley Hall School for Girls in Charleston, S.C., and Cornell University, where she was dean of women. She met Ted at Springfield while studying for her master's degree. The couple moved to his hometown of Mahwah, N.J., where she continued her career teaching at Ramapo Regional High School until the birth of her daughters. In Mahwah, Betty Ann enjoyed running “backstage” activities for the town drama society, and managing a team of Tupperware sales people for many years. She turned her love of cooking into a catering business with the help of “staff,” daughters Lisa and Betsey.
Betty Ann and Ted fulfilled their dream of retiring to Cape Cod, building a home in Orleans, Mass., in 1994. She enjoyed making new friends by joining the Orleans Yacht Club, the Newcomers Club, and working on the Women’s Auxiliary of the Cape Cod Hospital. They were active members of the Cape Cod Covenant Church, and lived happily on the Cape until 2010, when they moved to Ashland Farms in North Andover, Mass.
Betty Ann is survived by Ted, her loving husband of 56 years, and their two daughters, Lisa Whittle of Oakland, N.J., and Betsey Pashayan and her husband, David, of North Andover; grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew and Colin Whittle, and Jack and Katie Pashayan; her sister-in-law, Laverne Larson of Cromwell Conn.; and nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
