Lee's Summit, MO. — George E. Richardson, 85, of Lee’s Summit, Mo. passed away November 12, 2012.
George was born on August 1, 1927, in Lawrence to Clara Richardson. He attended North Andover High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday to serve in World WarII. During his tour of duty, he achieved the rank of Seaman First Class and received World War II Victory medal. October 1951 he married Marion Mixon and they just celebrated their 61st anniversary.
George and Marion relocated to the Kansas City area in 1961 and have been residents of Raytown, Blue Springs, Bates City, and currently Lees Summit. George retired from Western Electric/AT&T after 32 years of employment in 1982. After retiring from Western Electric he went on to become the General Manager of Robert's Nursery in Blue Springs, Mo. He loved the nursery, enjoyed all that nature has to offer. George had a passion for the outdoors, gardening, landscaping, boating, and camping. He enjoyed going to Chief games and was a big fan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara; brother, James; two sisters, Ruth and Marilyn, and daughter Debra Ann. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Marion; four sons, George II, Thomas, Mark, and Robert; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
George Richardson was a big man with an extra big heart, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grand children unconditionally. He led his family til his life ended and was surrounded by his family when the Lord called his name. Beat it!
ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be Thru. Nov. 15 from 6-8pm at Langsford Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Fri. Nov. 16 at Langsford Funeral Home at 10am. Burial at Floral Hills East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Boulevard St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
