Tampa, FLA. — Nicholas J. Callahan, Jr., of Tampa, Fla., died January 5, 2013. He was born in Methuen, and raised in Lawrence. He is the son of Geraldine C. (Burke) and Nicholas J. Callahan.
He graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1943. Mr. Callahan was a combat veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, class of 1947, and Harvard College, Cambridge, class of 1950. Mr. Callahan's professional career in the department store industry spanned 50 years. He served in several executive management positions. He retired in 1988 as divisional vice-president and general manager of the Robinson's of Florida, Orlando Fashion Square store.
Mr. Callahan was predeceased in 1980 by his wife of 25 years, Pauline (Dyer). He is survived by his son, Nicholas J. Callahan III, of Tampa; daughters, Lisa C. Hohler, of Quincy, and Anne Blake Harris, of Cibolo, Texas; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will take place at Arlington National Cemetary this spring. Neptune Society, Palm Harbor, Fla.
