Carl A. Savinelli, 91

Andover — Carl A. Savinelli, of Andover MA, died peacefully Wednesday morning November 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lawrence on November 16, 1921 to the late Francesco Savinelli and Maria (Fioravante) Savinelli. Carl grew up in Lawrence and eventually found work in Andover where he met his loving wife Catherine Roberta Cilley whom he lovingly referred to as “Bob”. They first lived in Lawrence and eventually moved to Andover to be near Roberta’s parents George and Margaret Cilley.

He spent over 30 years working in the clothing industry as a clothe cutter. The family had many fun Sundays at Hampton and Seabrook beach. In the 1960’s they began to spend their summer vacations at Lake George, NY area. There his children spent lots of time boating and learning to water ski. He also spent a great deal of time watching his daughter learn to snow ski and accompanying her to several meets and races throughout NH and Vermont. Carl and Roberta loved to spend time in the lodge at the various ski areas watching. He enjoyed spending time working on their home in Andover. Carl was also an avid stamp collector and he loved travelling to all the stamp shows in the area.

Carl was an exceptionally good cook. Wednesday was always pasta night and he made the best sauce around. Even though they were a family of five there was quite often many more over for dinner on those Wednesday nights.

He was a member of St. Matthews Lodge, AF&AM for over 50 years reaching the level of 32nd degree Mason and he was a member of Fidelity Chapter No. 90 of the Order of Eastern Star in Haverhill, MA. He spent over 30 years cooking for the many functions at the Masonic Lodge in Andover. He also prepared a luncheon for all the veterans every Veterans Day which he also served at the Masonic Lodge. He was a big supporter of his daughter Margaret during her time with the Rainbow Girls and eventually the Eastern Star.

Carl and Roberta were members of the Free Christian Church for over 50 years. He was always willing to volunteer his cooking services for all the various bean suppers and other fund raisers for the church.

Several years after Roberta’s passing he met Priscilla Russell with whom he spent 25 happy years. They travelled to Vermont and NH on several occasions for vacations. They also travelled to California often to visit Carl’s daughter. They loved spending time in San Francisco. They spent lots of time with Priscilla’s children and many grand children.

Carl leaves behind his loving companion Priscilla Russell, his son Carl (Buddy) F. Savinelli and his daughters Margaret (Peggy) Dubois and Linda Savinelli. Carl had

two grand children Tony Savinelli and Jessica Savinelli Verrill and her husband Joshua Verrill.

He was predeceased by his wife Catherin Roberta (Bob) Savinelli, his sisters Olga Titone, Dominica (Minnie) Dowaliby and brother Raymond Savinelli.
