Salem, N.H. — Peter R. Contarino, 74, of Salem, N.H., passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home in Salem, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born, raised, and educated in Lawrence. He was a 1956 graduate of Lawrence High School. He went on to receive his associates degree in mechanical engineering from Boston University and he received his B.A. in business administration from Merrimack College. Peter worked for Lucent for 34 years as a production supervisor prior to his retirement. In his free time he had many hobbies, including woodworking and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend to all that knew him and he will be missed dearly.
Peter leaves his loving wife, Phyllis C. (Traina) Contarino of Salem, N.H.; his two daughters, Brenda J. Scott of Windham and Debra C. Steele and her husband, David of Andover; four grandchildren, Erika N. and Corey T. Steele and Morgan A. and Rebecca P. Scott; and two sisters-in law, Charlotte R. Lavette and her husband, Robert A. and Patricia A. Tillberg and her husband, Thomas. He is also predeceased by a sister-in-law, Pricilla Lee, wife of Norman A. Lee. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to gather for memorial calling hours on Friday, December 7 from 9 to 11 a.m at the Goundrey and Dewhirst funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem, N.H. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will follow at Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
