Methuen — Mary E. “Betty” (Faro) Mulcahy, 83, of Methuen, formerly of Gloucester and Manchester-by-the-Sea, wife of the late Clayton J. Mulcahy Jr., passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Lawrence, on July 7, 1929, daughter of the late Philip and Dorothy (Mellon) Faro. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1946.
Betty was proud of being employed as a dispatcher for the Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department for over 14 years, retiring when she was 74 years old. She enjoyed antiquing and was an avid bowler.
Betty will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Clayton J. Mulcahey III and his wife, Gail Robinson-Mulcahey of Methuen; four grandchildren, Lindsay Mulcahey, Alexander Mulcahey, Ryan Mulcahey Borden and Conor Mulcahey; one great-grandchild, Avaree Borden; sister-in-law, Sylvia Mulcahey and special friends, Donna Doucette, Marie Hanna and Mimi Backry.
She was predeceased by two sons, Brian Mulcahy and Glenn Mulcahey; her sister, Dorothy Faro Urie and three brothers, Phil, Rob and Larry Faro.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester on Thursday, December 6, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Manchester-by-the-Sea at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will be held in Rosedale Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m.
