Eleanor M. Pleshaw, 83

Newburyport — Eleanor M. Pleshaw, a resident of Newburyport, formerly of Methuen, has died, following a long illness. She was 83 years old. She was born in 1929 in Baltimore, Md., to the late Douglas and Madeleine (Hartley) Allen. She moved as a child to Chelmsford, and was raised by her uncle and aunt, the late Leroy and Catherine (Hartley) Dutton.

She graduated from Chelmsford High School. She went on to graduate from Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Later in life she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services from Lesley College (now Lesley University). She was also a certified EMT. She worked for 30 years at Lawrence General Hospital. She switched to occupational nursing, worked for Brockway-Smith Company and retired from Gillette Company in Andover.

She was widow of the late Glenn A. Pleshaw, and sister of the late Phyllis Allen of Baltimore Md.

She is survived by her son, Hartley A. Pleshaw of Townsend and her daughter, Millicent Vella of Salisbury. She also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and James Stone, of West Virginia, and a nephew, Kurt A. Ruzicka, of Austin, Texas. She also leaves three grandcats, Tigger, Clancy and Mink.

ARRANGEMENTS: It being her wishes a private graveside service will take place at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salsibury, MA 01952 would be appreciated. Haverhill, MA — Laurence C. Ferris, 75, passed away April 7, 2013. Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Clair and Dorothy (Jones) Ferris. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the American Legion. He worked at Lawrence General Hospital. He was a very accomplished organist and played in many churches in the area. He was predeceased by brothers, Philip and Gordon. He leaves his sister, Elaine Shelanskas; devoted niece, Diane Willett; sister-in-laws, Carol Ann and Carol Ferris; a very special friend, Nancy, and her family; many nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her children, Carl Razzaboni and his wife, Joan of Medford, Mass., Judy and her husband, Peter Caliri of Tewksbury, Mass., Frank Razzaboni and his wife, Peggy of Salem, N.H., and Nancy and her husband, Frank Liston, of Salem, N.H.; her brother, Edward “Eddy” Heise of Florida, 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Georgetown — Laurieta A. (Longley) Mello passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 12, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was the beloved wife of 68 years of the late John W. Mello. Mrs. Mello was a longtime resident of Georgetown and wintered for more than 35 years in St. Petersburg, Fla. Most recently she was a resident of Nichols Village in Groveland. She was an avid card player and reader and was a huge Boston sports fan. She enjoyed shuffleboard and extensive travel with her loving husband until he passed in 2009.

Ogunquit, ME, and Andover, MA — Melvin L. Weiner, 91, of Pulpit Rock Lane, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at home. He was born March 7, 1922, in Lawrence, Mass., a son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Chimes) Weiner. Raised in Andover, Mass., he graduated from Phillips Andover and Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, having piloted the B-25 and B-26 planes. His wife Nancy (Brooks) Weiner of 50 years predeceased him. He leaves two sons, Stephen B. Weiner and his wife, Kathryn, of Andover, Mass., and J. Brooks Weiner of York, Maine; a daughter, Abigail W. Taylor and her husband, John, of Andover, Mass., and Rye, N.H.; a brother, Charles Weiner and his wife, Lynn, of Stamford, Conn.; and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Abigail, Benjamin, Corey, Lindsey, Kirsten and Brooke. A brother, Paul Weiner, predeceased him.

Salem, NH — Paula H. (Strobel) Coish, 66, of Salem, N.H., died Monday at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, N.H. She was born in Melrose, Mass., where she grew up and was educated. She was a resident of Salem for the past 43 years. Paula was a homemaker. She enjoyed her camp on Big Island Pond in Derry. She loved gardening, but mostly she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Paula was the daughter of the late George and Marion Strobel. She is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Coish, of Salem, N.H.; daughter, Laura J. and her husband, Brian McLaughlin, of Derry, N.H.; son, Brian C. Coish of Salem, N.H.; sisters, Janet and her husband, Russell Runge, of Melrose, Mass., and Barbara and her husband, Al Dow, of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Brooke and Shane McLaughlin; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Marcel, and her children, Daniel, and his wife, Anastasia, Megan, and Melissa McLaughlin. She also leaves her sister, Claire Powers and her husband, Harry, of Peabody, Mass.; and her brother, Kevin P. Donahue, of Lynnfield, Mass.; and her sister, June Salvaneschi and her husband, Joseph, of Atkinson, N.H. She was aunt to Michael Powers and Joseph, Elise, Caroline, and Liana Salvaneschi. Regina was predeceased by her brother, Bernard J. Donahue, Jr., and her parents, Bernard and Claire (Hadley) Donahue.

Angelina "Angie" Conte, 92

Haverhill, MA — Angelina A. Conte, 92, died Sunday May 12, 2013 at Lawrence General Hospital. She was born in Haverhill, February 24, 1921, daughter of Federico and Gemma (Grassi) Conte. She was educated in Haverhill Schools. She was employed in the local shoe industry, and was retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where she worked at Salisbury State Reservation, and the Veterans Memorial Skating Rink in Haverhill. When her mother died at an early age, Angie raised her brothers and sisters. She was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews. She is survived by a brother and his wife, Frank and Lena Conte of Haverhill; and a sister, Agnes Bevilacqua of Haverhill; sisters in law, Jennie Conte, and Shirley Conte of Haverhill. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Marino Conte, Americo "Speed" Conte, Alfred Conte, Sebastian "Pee Wee" Conte, Orlando "Lindy" Conti, and Rudolph Conte. She was also predeceased by a sister, Vera Wenige. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for kindness and care they provided to Angie during her stay there.

Barbara was raised in Lawrence and attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence. Prior to retirement, Barbara worked the switchboard at the Holy Family Hospital for 40 years. After retiring, she volunteered at the front desk at the Holy Family and in her free time she enjoyed reading, traveling to Maine and Florida, but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
