Irene H. (Goyette) Berube, 89


Haverhill, MA — a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

Daughter of the late Eugene and M. Rose (Brouillette) Goyette, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1940.

Mrs. Berube was employed for many years by local banks and began her career with the former Groveland Cooperative Bank. She later worked at Whittier Cooperative Bank in downtown Haverhill where she served as Treasurer for over twenty years. With the merging of Whittier Cooperative Bank into Haverhill Cooperative, she continued as treasurer of the institution until her retirement in 1983.

A member of All Saints Parish, and the former Saint Joseph Parish and Ladies of Saint Anne Society, Mrs. Berube enjoyed traveling across the United States and other countries around the globe, also cooking, and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Bertrand J. Berube, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth B. and Margaret Berube, of Auburn, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda I. and Carl Fredrickson of Atkinson, NH, grandchildren, Alan Berube and his wife Cristina of Washington, D.C., Carla Berube of Medford, MA, Kristen Fredrickson of Manchester, NH, Jessica (Fredrickson) Monroe and her husband Mark of Auburn, NH, and Steven Fredrickson of Newton, NH, also two great grandchildren Erica Berube and Oliver Monroe and several cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
