So the Republican conservatives are going to meet here, one of the most liberal of the states. How strange. They hope to gain some of the Hispanic votes — and how do they hope to do that? They had better think about what they are going to do about the Republicans who collect some type of government checks the same as everyone else? Who do they think they will vote for? They had better hope they don’t win the next presidential election because they won’t know what to do with it either. I am much older than any of them and have seen it all from the Depression to World War II. We had a real middle class then had a bad recession and now we’re gaining a little recovery slowly. Both parties are now fighting too much while Rome is burning. We definitely need a strong third party and both parties are going to have to admit it sooner or later.

Phony accounting

Obama took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when they failed and pumped in $198 billion. Last week, the administration claimed GSEs have “repaid” $146 billion, and turned a $90 billion profit that went to debt reduction. The only problem is the debt is increasing. And the mortgages were bought by the Fed on the taxpayers’ dime. It’s more phony accounting.

Place to vent

Regarding the caller who wants us to stop complaining about Obama: For your info, Sound Off is there for all of us to use to vent about what happens to be on each individual’s mind at that particular time. Whether it be local or national or anything in between, it’s everyone’s place to vent, So who the heck are you, to tell us what to complain about? I can’t understand why some people have the need to think they have the right to tell others what to think or say. I think it’s a control issue; get over it.

Not amused

I also agreed with all the complaints about Obama. We can do something locally by voting in people that will actually represent the people who voted them in. I for one am sick of the people in politics thinking that they don’t have to abide by the same rules they decide to force on all of us. My mother is an 80-year-old who has always voted Democrat until Obama ran: Here are her thoughts: Clinton was almost impeached for having intimate relations with another woman. Why has no one mentioned impeaching Obama when he lies and blackmails us, treats our military like it isn’t important. Mr. Obama this is not a movie. This is real life and we are not amused.

Local candidates are the same old retreads who won’t go away. A husband and wife are just swapping school board seats. They haven’t taken care enough of their family members. The rest for mayor and City Council ought to take ride around Methuen and see how residential neighborhoods have become parking lots for trailers and trucks. Quit selling your vote for a free ice cream at the senior center.
