Embarrassing Democrats

With all the great advances of our country, especially its economy, it is embarrassing to think I once voted Democrat, with the way these children are behaving.Limited enforcement

In Haverhill, you can drive with one headlight and police ignore it, unless an accident happens and the officer sees only one headlight. In that case, they write you up for faulty equipment and causing an accident. Voice of reason

Terrific column by Dick Hodges in last Monday’s edition. Too bad everyone doesn’t feel like he does; our country could be the country it once was. Kudos to you, sir.

Tale of two documents

In early January, Sen. Dianne Feinstein released a transcript of the Senate Judiciary Committee's interview with Glenn R. Simpson of Fusion GPS, the company whose dossier was used as pretext to wiretap then-candidate Donald J. Trump. She did so in defiance of her Republican colleagues, and the press treated the transcript like a perfectly credible part of the official record (which, in fairness, it is). Zero media coverage was spent talking about her political loyalties or motives, though surely she had both. Fast forward one month, when Republicans release a House Intelligence Committee memo - clearly in response - detailing how various appendages of government were employed to try to put thumbs on scales for then-candidate Hillary Clinton. This time, zero media coverage was spent talking about the memo’s contents or underlying intelligence. And, people on the left wonder why the "fake news" charges from Trump’s supporters have gained such traction.

Justice Department on trial

You don't have to be very smart to figure out that the GOP is desperate to protect President Trump from the Mueller probe. Does anybody else realize that the recent memo did not exist until special counsel Robert Mueller stated he was talking to White House lawyers about questioning Trump? Of course, this is the last thing they want to happen. They know Mueller will catch him in his lies, and the ballgame is over. Trump has a team of lawyers at the White House, and it’s obvious their strategy is to put the Justice Department and FBI on trial.

You buy the cat food

It’s absurd that people think the government should pay for their pet food. If they can't afford food for their pets, they shouldn’t get one or be allowed to adopt one. It’s an expense for everyone who has a pet, but that doesn’t mean the government is responsible for it.

Deception revealed

Well, well, well, the Democrats finally have been caught deceiving, and there’s no way they will be able to get out of it. The revealing four-page memo released by Rep. Devan Nunes and President Trump definitely proves that the Democrats, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were the ones colluding with the Russians. They thought she was going to win, and thus all the illegal activities of the Democratic National Committee, Clintons and Obama administration never would be exposed. But, surprise, Trump won and the Democrats have been uncovered. Oh what a tangled web you weave when you practice to deceive.
