School choice
I was surprised to read that Mayor Fiorentini is concerned about Haverhill's poor kids having options in education since he has yet to embrace Hill View Montessori Charter Public School, which offers a free choice to all Haverhill children.
Illegal aliens
Hooray for Arizona for finally moving forward to stop illegal persons from entering our wonderful country and abusing the system. Goodness knows our president isn't doing anything to stop it.
Government
The biggest terrorist threat to America is our own government. They have created such chaos amongst the people while ignoring our constitution, our laws, and helping themselves to whatever they want and calling the people who resist racists. That is what the liberals do, they discredit and are repetitious with their name calling and degrading trying to take the people's real focus away.
Outstanding job
This is a big "thank you" to all involved with Rebuilding Greater Haverhill Together. My husband and I were chosen by the board to receive the help we needed. This past weekend I had the experience of working with this great group of people firsthand (all volunteers). Because of my husband's recent health issues things needed to be done to make my home handicap accessible and safe for him to return from the hospital. They did an outstanding job.
Arizona
Congratulations goes out to the governor of Arizona for taking the necessary steps Washington was unwilling to make. With over 460,000 illegal immigrants, Arizona could no longer wait around for another failed policy designed to protect those here illegally. It's just funny how the Obama administration has had no time for this issue but they sure made time to launch an effort to discredit and prevent this bill from ever happening. Maybe the "Community Organizer" in charge should take the time to draft up legislation that protects the citizens of this country instead of destroying efforts to protect us against non-citizens.
Fake bags
A perfect example of corporate greed: Coach is suing the Derry flea market. Does the company really believe it can eliminate this type of activity? And is it so far out of touch that it believes the customers of the flea markets would buy its "genuine" products at retail stores?
Whittier
It seems the administration at Whittier Tech has convinced themselves that they have created a school that exceeds standard expectations. This must make a good night's sleep much easier for them. However, what they have really done is deny access to a public school for those who truly need it. In altering the admissions requirements, a whole sector of students has been written off — the kids for whom working with their hands encourages working with their minds.
Fairy tale
A Sound Off caller said the workers at Shaw's should be satisfied and work hard. If he really believes in that fairy tale then he himself should go and get a job at Wal-Mart. When I was young, I worked in stores. They are some of my worst memories. To work in retail is to work hard for little money. It was tough 60 years ago and still is. Someday, it won't be because when that is all that is left with manufacturing gone, all retail will become unionized and have a living wage.
Go to Washington
Gov. John Lynch should go to Washington. He would fit right in with voting his own agenda, not the constituents'. First the same-sex marriage, now the casinos.
