To the editor:
The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce is organized to represent the concerns of businesses on town, county, state, national and international legislation and political affairs; addressing issues which affect economic development within its trade area; affirming and promoting the retail, commercial, industrial, educational, financial and civic interests in the New Hampshire communities of Salem, Windham, Pelham, Hampstead, and Atkinson.
In an effort to promote job growth, to help local businesses succeed and to contribute to our overall economic stability, the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce supports the proposed renovation project at Salem High School.
When a business or homeowner is considering a relocation to our community, the quality of education and its facilities is at the forefront in the decision-making process whether to invest in our area or not. It is for this specific reason, that the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce supports this project and hopes that it will increase the desirability of our communities.
This can create a positive environment for economic development for years to come and create a sense of pride in the community that businesses and residents alike are willing to invest in the future of education for our students.
With the new career-based curriculum in the Career and Technical Education Center and a strong focus on math and technology, businesses will also benefit from a higher educated workforce to help drive employment growth in the Greater Salem area.
This renovation project is a unique opportunity for Salem to provide a secure facility for its high school students, create a positive learning environment, construct a facility that brings modern day technologies and resources to help aid the students not only in the education arena but also in athletics and the arts.
