Letter: Thanks for giving in difficult times

To the editor:

With the year coming to a close and the temperatures dropping, this time of year lends itself naturally to reflection and the feeling of gratitude. As we face the winter ahead, those struggling across our state will need access to critical resources even more so than in years past. Programs and agencies state wide are poised to meet these needs right now, because of the generosity of Granite United Way’s partner companies and individual donors.

One of our most generous groups of donors happens to be the State of New Hampshire Employees. Together, they were able to contribute $343,418 this year to non-profit programs all across New Hampshire during their annual State Employees’ Charitable Campaign. Not only is this group dedicated to the well being of our state professionally, they show us what it means to Live United through the continued support they give to communities.

Gov. Maggie Hassan joins me in thanking our state employees for their generosity. “It is so important that we give back to our communities during the holiday season and throughout the year, and New Hampshire’s state employees represent the very best of our state’s tradition of helping those in need,” Hassan said. “Through their generosity, our state employees are helping non-profit programs throughout the state provide critical services to thousands of New Hampshire individuals and families.”

Our gratitude for their efforts lasts long beyond the holiday season. Their gifts help change lives throughout the entire year. And here at Granite United Way, we are ever grateful for that kind of support.
