---- — What matters
At least now we have some idea of what constitutes a government scandal in the minds of liberals. We know it isn’t the State Department’s shameful failure to protect American diplomats in Benghazi. Four died, Obama, Clinton, Rice, Carney and others lied. It isn’t “Fast and Furious,” ultimately resulting in the murder of a U.S. border patrol agent. Nor is it the IRS illegally and selectively targeting conservative groups. It isn’t the NSA spying on citizens or foreign heads of state. And, goodness, it’s not the White House barricading unmanned war memorials to prevent veterans from paying tribute to America’s fallen heroes. It’s not even our president lying about the ability to keep your health insurance coverage and doctors under Obamacare. No, it’s a freakin’ traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge. Thank you, liberals, for finally making clear what really matters most to you. But in the words of one of your heroes, “What difference at this point does it make?”
In the Eagle-Tribune editorial of Jan. 8, “In Haverhill, mayor and council must work together,” you state: “It’s unclear whether voters will be willing to accept the added tax burden” of funding $24 million to replace Hunking Middle School. Let me make it clear: Voters are NOT willing to accept the added tax burden. We do not buy that an override is the only way to do this. There seems to be plenty of money for lots of other projects. If this issue is so important. then the mayor and council must fund it first in the budget. We’re sick of getting nickel-and-dimed into the poor house. We will not support the debt exclusion.
Regarding the George Washington Bridge controversy: The family of the 92-year-old lady who died has stated that the bridge problem was not the reason for her death. Unfortunately, we all believe what we choose to believe.
If people visiting prisoners do not want a body search, then give the prisoner a complete body search before the visit and one after the visit. If he has anything illegal on him, then give him a few days in solitary and ban the visitor from the prison. That should solve the problem. Post it in writing so it can be seen by all and they will be warned.
In response to the column by Ann McFeatters: I also feel that our climate is definitely changing. Why can’t we feel that the Earth is going through a process? How many ice ages have we had in the past when there were no scientists around documenting changes? It would be in our best interest to concentrate on how we can survive these changes without bickering about who is to blame. From my reading, the Earth’s climate has seldom been stagnant or consistent. Let’s think about how we can best survive!
To the gentleman who thinks Gov. Chris Christie should step down: How does he feel about our president, the secretary of state and our U.N. ambassador lying about the Benghazi attack in which four Americans died? Some are very quick to criticize any Republican but turn a blind eye to the most corrupt administration I can remember. If Christie did know, he should go but so should the man who promised the “most transparent administration ever.”
