Letter: Stewart builds bridges as North Andover selectman

To the editor:

Whether it’s watching the news or listening to talk radio, it’s hard not to feel frustrated by the bickering politicians in Congress and on Beacon Hill. Perhaps these politicians would do well to take a page out of North Andover’s government play book.

For the past three years, our local government has been proactive in increasing transparency, engaging residents and embracing communication among our various boards. Much of this is due to the hard work of our town manager and members of the Board of Selectmen.

Of our selectmen, Don Stewart stands out as an elder statesman, striving to build bridges between our local boards, most notably our School Committee. Don has displayed a true commitment to working hand-in-hand with his fellow officials, embodying a philosophy based on cooperation that has contributed to a productive, positive Town Hall.

As a homeowner raising my family in town, I’m proud to call North Andover home. And as a resident who values a productive local government, I’m happy to give my vote to re-elect Don Stewart.
