To the editor:
The night before the vote on Medicaid expansion during the special session of the New Hampshire Legislature last fall, I received a call from Americans for Prosperity, the group funded by the billionaire Koch brothers, asking me to call my state senator (that would be Nancy Stiles) to ask her to vote no. I had already called Sen. Stiles to ask her to vote yes. She, however, did not listen to the plea of a mere constituent, bowing instead to the wishes of outside money.
Now Scott Brown is planning a run for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire and refusing to pledge to reduce spending by outside groups. These special interest groups are not only spending money to convince us that what is good for them is also good for us but they are also importing their own politician, bought and paid for, as well.
Independent New Hampshire is not that easily fooled. We already have our own homegrown senator. Jeanne Shaheen is doing an outstanding job representing our interests in Washington and we are going to send her back!
