Sea saw needed
So the Jennie Carter wreck poses a hazard, someone may someday die perhaps and the state sees historical significance. Bunk.
There are shipwrecks every few hundred yards along Salisbury all the way south to Plum Island Point. No one famous died, the cargo was unimportant, the owners were ordinary folks. The only historical significance is it’s still partly there. Whoopee. I have a suggestion for the DCR at Salisbury: It’s called a chainsaw! Just lop off the offending upright ribs and leave the rest alone. Problem solved in one or two low tide cycles.
Show some respect
I don’t understand why folks like the writer of “Bush lied” are compelled to treat other contributors with such disrespect. Could they be that socially deprived or maybe just never taught how to interact with others properly that they feel the need to disrespect others the way they do? Sad!
Ignorant of history
I was shocked to read a certain Disqus blogger state that President Obama is the most incompetent president since FDR.
Without a defining statement, the claim FDR was incompetent is perhaps the most ignorant comment in the annals of political commentary. Oh, well, maybe that poster never had freshman civics.
In 1960 DemocratIc President John Kennedy appointed Republicans to several high-ranking Cabinet positions, and he exhorted the nation, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Where did that DemocratIc party go ?
A mayoral first
A letter writer stated, “Lantigua should do the right thing.” Well, there’s a first time for everything!
So the Republicans in the U.S. House are trying to improve health care access for Americans? How, by encouraging Americans to keep their same shoddy, inadequate policies? Where were these Republicans when millions of low-income people could not get any health insurance and got care only in emergency rooms? Where were these Republicans when tens of thousands of working people had their policies canceled when they got seriously sick? And where were they when countless others lost their homes and went bankrupt because their policy had annual or lifetime limits way below their enormous medical bills? Now they are clamoring for people to keep their old plans (”free” of the Obamacare reforms). As if the “good old day” were ideal! I hope the people who keep their old policies know how bad many of those policies will continue to be and that they don’t have to find out when canceled or forced to go bankrupt when they get sick.
Shift the Sahara
As a lifelong resident of Methuen, I never understood why a nightclub like the Sahara Club was ever allowed to operate in a residential neighborhood. It just brings a bad out-of-town element into a place where people are home trying to enjoy some peace and quiet. Now with this recent incident, it’s time to rethink this and find a more suitable spot for the Sahara Club, not in a residential family area.
We in America do not have government by the majority — we have government by the majority. “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. “ — Thomas Jefferson.
