Sound Off

Humbug

In response to “Methuen bugs me” complaining about people having their Christmas lights up already: You should try to find something else to bug you. Maybe someone in the family is sick and won’t be here this Christmas. Maybe a long-awaited but short visit from a military family member is bringing the Christmas celebration to someone’s home early. Maybe they are just fed up with so much political correctness that they are doing what they feel like doing. Merry Christmas. God Bless Us, every one.

Self-reliance

With the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination upon, us our country needs to take a serious look at how we have forgotten his most important words. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or independent, we have to ask ourselves “what we can do for our country.” Too many people are just standing around with their hands out looking for “what your country can do for you.” People need to stand on their own two feet and do for themselves and not wait for others to do for them.

Scofflaws

I live in the Mount Washington Street area of Haverhill, and on almost every other street, someone has a car registered in New Hampshire. So to the Farrwood Drive resident, you’re not alone. I called police and sent in the form, and the guy still has the New Hampshire plates on his 2013 car.

Shut it down

I live in the neighborhood of the Sahara Club. I find it hard to believe five families make a living from that business as it is only open two or three nights per week. It should be closed permanently. Saturday nights are the worst — 2 a.m. and the partying continues in the parking lot.

Thanks, MB!

Thank you to Market Basket in North Andover for having such great customer service. I grew up in an era when most stores were family-operated, and courtesy was a top priority. With so many malls and franchises, politeness and appreciation have gotten lost, and attitudes like “whatever” have become so prevalent but Market Baskets, especially the North Andover store have kept very good and polite customer relationships. Great job, Market Basket, and thank you!
