To the editor:
With less than two weeks to go before voters head to the polls, we would like to encourage residents to join us in re-electing Mayor Steve Zanni.
While Mayor Zanni has many tangible accomplishments to point to from these past two years – from privatizing City Hall custodians, getting our High School construction project back on track, and negotiating $1 million dollars in employee health insurance savings – we are most impressed by the work Mayor Zanni has done to enhance Methuen’s reputation.
For so many years residents would pick up the morning newspaper and groan as we read one bad story after another. The most depressing news was the seemingly endless city lawsuits and the drama surrounding them. We think we can speak for most residents when we say that such coverage did not set Methuen in a good light and, frankly, was demoralizing to read.
Mayor Zanni has offered refreshing leadership in shepherding our city in a different direction. Stopping the games and ending the lawsuits, enough cannot be said for how much Mayor Zanni has done to improve Methuen’s image.
Mayor Zanni may have not started the lawsuits, but kudos to Mayor Zanni for ending them. This is what we will be keeping in mind when we walk into the voting booth, and proudly casting our ballots to re-elect Mayor Zanni on Nov. 5.
