My son was at the Storrow School in Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. on Election Day. It took an hour and 10 minutes for him to vote. My husband went there four times and went home without voting because the line was out the door and he had to wait for someone at home. We both went back at 3 p.m. and it took an hour and 15 minutes to vote. My other son also waited in a line that was out the door, too. I’ve been voting at the same place for 34 years and it has never been like this. This was ridiculous.
The day after the hurricane I was cutting up a huge tree limb which completely blocked my neighbor’s driveway in North Andover. She has three young children and her husband was away on business. Just as I got to the hardest part a young man hopped out of his car and hauled the branch off the driveway. He and his parent were going in the opposite direction and turned their car around to help me. I wish for him children as kind as his parents obviously raised him.
So, the election is over. Congratulations if someone you thought should have been elected was elected. I know you will agree with me when I say that we must do something before the next presidential election to put a stop to the horrible campaign ads we have been subjected to for all this time. So much money was wasted, so many lies and do you really believe what was said, really? We need to clean up our election process and regulate it better. How about a time limit and no ads can be run until a month before election? How about putting a stop to these horrible PACs and committees that run the really offensive ads? I’m actually ashamed of my country after watching what went on. Are you? Let’s work together by writing our politicians. We must unite behind this, without the usual division we have nowadays, as this will benefit us all.
