---- — Voting lines
My son was at the Storrow School in Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. on Election Day. It took an hour and 10 minutes for him to vote. My husband went there four times and went home without voting because the line was out the door and he had to wait for someone at home. We both went back at 3 p.m. and it took an hour and 15 minutes to vote. My other son also waited in a line that was out the door, too. I’ve been voting at the same place for 34 years and it has never been like this. This was ridiculous.
The day after the hurricane I was cutting up a huge tree limb which completely blocked my neighbor’s driveway in North Andover. She has three young children and her husband was away on business. Just as I got to the hardest part a young man hopped out of his car and hauled the branch off the driveway. He and his parent were going in the opposite direction and turned their car around to help me. I wish for him children as kind as his parents obviously raised him.
So, the election is over. Congratulations if someone you thought should have been elected was elected. I know you will agree with me when I say that we must do something before the next presidential election to put a stop to the horrible campaign ads we have been subjected to for all this time. So much money was wasted, so many lies and do you really believe what was said, really? We need to clean up our election process and regulate it better. How about a time limit and no ads can be run until a month before election? How about putting a stop to these horrible PACs and committees that run the really offensive ads? I’m actually ashamed of my country after watching what went on. Are you? Let’s work together by writing our politicians. We must unite behind this, without the usual division we have nowadays, as this will benefit us all.
Today’s your day to party, Democrats. But here’s what you just voted for: four more years of crippling debt and deficits, a decimated military, a nuclear Iran, millions more on unemployment and welfare, skyrocketing food and fuel prices and higher taxes on everyone. But yay! Now you get your free abortions and Obamaphones! Fortunately, you’ll also get just what you deserve.
Hope you voted
Hey folks, you do not have the right to complain about the election results if you did not exercise your right to vote in the first place.
Your editorial Wednesday said that Obama spent the last four years blaming Bush for the mess we are in. He blamed him because he was the one that put us there — even the Republicans tried to distance themselves at the end. Obama can try all he wants to move us forward but remember the Republicans still control the House. In the last four years it seems the House deliberately voted down everything he put forth. If they don’t improve this situation in the future our country will not move forward and it will not just be the president’s fault. Our country deserves better than this.
