To the editor:
With Exit 3 construction almost done, Windham has become a very desirable location for commercial development, being at the crossroads of Interstate 93 and Route 111. This area is the “gateway” to our town, the first view people have of our unique and sought after community. The Planning Board for decades has been working to craft zoning that would allow this valuable real estate to be developed in a manner that is both attractive and brings in the highest tax dollar. The voters have overwhelmingly supported these initiatives.
We now have a choice in voting for selectman. One candidate – Alan Carpenter – for many years has been deeply involved with this effort.
He is well versed in how to encourage desirable commercial development and lead away from unfettered growth that would increase traffic, damage our lakes and wells, and cost more in town resources than in tax dollars received.
In his many years of service to the town, Alan has repeatedly demonstrated outstanding ability in leading both the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen.
He has a unique and extraordinary gift for understanding all sides of every issue and then summarizing the points in a clear and concise manner, making the right decision clear to all board members. He is an accomplished leader, an astute business man, a brilliant person, and a great communicator.
At this critical time, Windham needs Alan on the Board of Selectmen.
Please join me on Tuesday, March 12, in voting for Alan Carpenter for selectman.
