Regarding children in restaurants: I was not the person in the booth behind you and your children. However if the folks behind you were able to “stare” at your children, they must have been leering over the seat at them making their time out unenjoyable for them! Not everyone thinks your kids are cute! Control them or maybe you should sit at a table. I think the restaurant was very gracious. They should have put the burden where it belongs, on you!
It appears that Methuen has its own very big fiscal cliff issue. His name is Solomon!
Andover’s deer hunt: three new properties opened up, hundreds of acres, 45 more hunters allowed, deer drives, baiting, hunters staying in the woods well after legal shooting times. And the best they can do is 31 deer — one shy of last year’s record — and many others limping around hurt. I hope this isn’t what they call success.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally.” That is a quote from Barack Obama in 2006. It seems he forgot what he said back then. He must have a really short memory!
I could not agree more with the caller who so aptly pinpoints the lack of intelligence of the current Methuen administration and the Fire Department. These inept decisions have cost the citizens of Methuen money. Why isn’t the mayor taking steps to correct the situation? Why is the question. Once again, the special interests helped get the current mayor elected for their own selfish interests and not the interests of the city as a whole. Shame on you for electing this administration.
The city of Methuen is at it again. First they were chasing around ice cream trucks. Now they are arresting sledders.
So the Methuen police are willing to arrest injured sledders because, well, because they can catch them as they writhe in pain on the ground. But the rest of the year they can’t drive their cruisers to the top of the hill frequently enough to keep the drug dealers out? I spend a lot of time in that park and do what I can to keep it clean. But it’s no mystery what those tiny little zip-lock bags were used for before getting tossed onto the lawn. If sledders can’t steer around a tree, let them deal with it. But the police would come in handy with the dealers.
Sandown and Hampstead area police and selectmen need to brush up on New Hampshire fireworks laws. “Permissible fireworks” are very limited and don’t even include bottle rockets. Why then did we have to listen to many hours of fireworks from many locations on New Year’s Eve? Some of them sounded like bombs.
So they’re going to lengthen the school day in Lawrence Public Schools in hopes of improving performance. Yet the schools are closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. Why? Every other school district in the Merrimack Valley is open.
