---- — Solomon
We came to a settlement with Chief Solomon? OK, but why is he still here in Methuen? Any settlement talks should have started with his removal. We reached a settlement, but the problem remains! We have a chief of police who has shown bad judgment and can’t be fired. What’s wrong with this picture?
Solomon has again proven how inept our government leaders are in managing their employees and our money. Now I think it is time for Methuen to take the chief off Civil Service. That’s a good job for our new solicitor! In private companies, managers cannot be union members, which being covered by Civil Service amounts to in a government job. The Methuen fire chief isn’t covered by Civil Service. Why then is the chief of police?
Finally, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel regarding the possible settlement between the City of Methuen and Chief Solomon. This should never have gone this far. While they’re trying to figure out how to pay for this possible settlement, I hope they also target some money for the mistake their about to make in picking a new solicitor for the city. As everyone knows, one of the finalists for that job is suing the city of Lawrence — another mistake in the works. The citizens of Methuen will have to batten down the hatches and tighten their belts some more come budget time.
How can Richard D’Agostino be expected to file proper, technical legal court papers if he can’t even date his own personal letter correctly? And how could the committee select someone for the final four two weeks before his referrals were received and verified? Something stinks in Methuen.
I am writing regarding the budget cuts and why the working taxpayer gets stuck with the paying off this debt by raising taxes. We pay for the illegal aliens’ health care in the millions of dollars. We pay for the lazy people who are living off welfare, Section 8 housing, and food stamps. Drug addicts and criminals are receiving disability. Members of Congress and the Senate receive a very healthy paycheck, plus freebies and free travel at the taxpayers’ expense. Air Force One is always taking the president and his family to gala events to the tune of millions of dollars every time the plane goes up. Senators and congressmen should take a cut in pay. I am sure they will survive with the large amount they still have left.
Fire them all
Since the Methuen councilors don’t know what they’re doing — even with two local attorneys advising them — I suggest we evaluate them come November and vote the majority out of office, along with Chief Solomon, and keep the current solicitor, who seems to be the only one who knows the right thing to do! Dirty politics as usual!
Foxwoods has received $4 million from the federal government because they are losing money. But our state leaders still believe we can solve our budget woes by building more casinos. The only way to solve budget problems is to stop wasting, stop rewarding government workers who do not do their jobs and are often dishonest. Cut spending. No new taxes and no new casinos.
