Letter: Mayor handled dog problem well

To the editor:

The residents of Bowdoin Street in South Lawrence have been victimized by two dogs that, a few weeks ago, attacked mail delivery people. As a result, mail delivery was halted and everybody on the whole street had to go to Common Street in order to pick up their mail.

I went to Mayor William Lantigua and requested assistance in this matter. I gave a letter that explained the Bowdoin Street crisis on Tuesday, Feb. 16. He showed leadership.

The next day, the inspection department was sent to the home of the owner of the two dogs. This resulted in a fine and subsequently, the mail delivery people were escorted by animal control officers when delivering mail on that street.

The removal of these dogs is a high priority since I have noticed many children, on their walks to and from the Robert Frost School, are passing along Bowdoin Street.

Our children are in danger of being attacked. We need immediate removal of those dogs from Bowdoin Street.
