Letter: Hospital staff provides caring treatment

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

My name is Claire Ouellette. I am an 86-year-old cancer patient being treated at the Holy Family Hospital. I have been under their care since November of 2012. I want to take this opportunity to thank some very special people. There is no doubt in my mind that I am alive today because of these doctors and nurses that have gone way beyond what they are paid to do.

Dr. Maeta and his staff are the most caring group of people I could ask for. They have spent so much time in making sure I am OK. I go in for my treatments for a seven-hour chemo treatment, followed up with a three-hour treatment the next day. When I get the treatments my white blood cell counts are wiped out so badly that I feel terrible. Yet, the nurses are so careful with me, they lift my spirits and make me feel so much better about myself. They make me feel special.

Cancer is a terrible thing. It affects so many families. It takes its toll for sure. I just know that the Holy Family Cancer Management program is the No. 1 reason I am alive today. I can’t thank them enough.
