Letter: We must return to a ‘culture of life’

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

On Labor Day weekend, I attended church with my daughter and her family. The final hymn we sang was “God Bless America.” How much we need God’s blessing, but I thought, how can we expect God’s blessing when we, as a nation, have departed from God’s will?

God’s gift of human life is no longer respected, and we, as a nation, have given mothers the right to abortion, which is the killing of their unborn children and the wounding of their mothers, whose very nature it is to bear and nurture life. A wise person once said that if we admit to killing at any point in the cycle of human life (abortion), it will happen again. Assisted suicide has already been accepted by some states and is on the rise. Eventually, no one will be secure in living life.

May we have the wisdom to see that we are becoming steeped in the culture of death. Marriage, which is the union of a man and a woman for sharing mutual love and the begetting of children, is being redefined and granted to same-sex couples. It is vital as a nation that we once more become “one nation under God,” respecting human life from the moment of conception to natural death and upholding traditional marriage.

With the upcoming election, let us elect moral people who will help lead us back to the culture of life, when all life will be cherished.

God bless America and grant us peace and prosperity.
