To the editor:
Newton’s Article 24 has no tax impact. This article will create an expendable trust fund for our Newton Emergency Operating Center.
As many of you know, our emergency management team consists of men and women who help our residents during emergencies. This team checks on our residents during power failures, delivers water for those that request it, checks our seniors and disabled residents, and often times drop of information on preparedness for emergencies and how to safely run a generator and explains placement outside your home. This article will allow funds to be placed in the trust fund that later can be used for equipment, payroll, and supplies, therefore not impacting the budget for the Emergency Management Department. This will benefit the taxpayers.
On another note, incumbent School Board member James Doggett brings knowledge, continuity, and experience to our Sanborn School Board. It is extremely important to have James sitting in the seat representing the Town of Newton. His past participation clearly indicates his understanding of the school budget and proper process for the best interests of our children and residents.
James is patient, tolerant and polite. He digests information and has the ability to explain pros and cons. As a chairman on many committees in our community, he also understands the proper way to run a meeting. This is a talent that not everyone has. We encourage you to re-elect James Doggett as a School Board member.
