Voting is how change happens

To the editor:

Here's yet another example of "they just don't get it."

In your editorial of Aug. 25, "gubernatorial adviser" Steve Crawford is quoted as "understanding" that voters are frustrated with the economy, gasoline prices and foreclosures, and he's "concerned that their frustration might be reflected at the ballot box."

Earth to Steve: You forgot to include reckless legislative spending in your list!

I guess the voters could burn the Statehouse, or riot on Beacon Hill, or resort to guns, but for over 200 years we've chosen (thankfully) to do exactly what you fear — take out frustrations at the ballot box. Would you have it any other way?

If legislators, governors, congressmen, senators and presidents don't get the message through balloting, then the United States will become the countries we criticize — and our elected officials will be the cause.
