Letter: Bush deserves our respect

To the editor:

U.S. President George W. Bush is one of the most insightful, empathetic, compassionate and courageous individuals currently serving to protect against the threatened worldwide human condition.

In spite of extraordinary risk to himself and his family, his focus and determination to try to instill a strong worldwide mind set serving to press effective, forceful action against the forces of terrorists has been undaunted. Such a stance, sparked by the unforgettable horrific event of Sept. 11, 2001, has never been more necessary against what is and will remain as an unrelenting threat to our national and worldwide security.

Add his resolve in taking action against the impact of anarchy, disease and other causes of suffering in underdeveloped nations (which gets little publicity by broadcast and newsprint journalists) and it is easy to realize by those who are not shallow that President Bush is an unusually strong and virtuous person, as such relates to these problems, which we should all recognize, respect, appreciate and support, separate from his errors in judgment on other matters.
