Letter: Ryan-Ciardiello is best choice for School Committee

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

The people of Haverhill have a wonderful opportunity to be served by my friend and colleague Maura Ryan-Ciardiello. Maura is seeking an open seat on the Haverhill School Committee.

Maura is a compelling candidate with a strong foundation in education as a former teacher, community advocate for public schools and a parent. She has the background, experience and dedication that is needed to serve well on the committee.

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Maura on local and regional community activities. She is well spoken, focused and utterly devoted to family and community. She is one of the few people I know that truly believes that she can enrich the lives of others directly with positive, community activism and volunteerism.

As a former school committee member of Pentucket Regional Schools I am aware of the complex issues facing public education today and the challenges that many families face in educating their children. An effective school committee can often be that critical link in providing resources that will give each child a chance to be successful and happy in life.

Maura knows that fundamentally this is the promise of public education and she will be that refreshing advocate who will work with all stakeholders to seek solutions that serve students well in a fiscally responsible manner.

I hope that you will vote for Maura Ryan-Ciardiello for School Committee on Nov. 5.
