---- — To the editor:
Gabriel Gomez, a 47-year-old Republican, has the guts to take on Democrat Congressman Ed Markey in the upcoming Senate election.
Gomez grew up speaking Spanish before English. He went on to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy. He is one of a very small number of Americans who have served as both a Navy aircraft carrier pilot and a Navy SEAL officer. After his tour of duty, he went to Harvard Business School, where he earned an MBA.
He believes that it is his duty to give back to his country what his country has given to him.
He is taking on Markey, who has logged 37 years as a congressman and master of Democratic arrogance, ridiculing anyone who challenges him. Entrenched in power, Markey has taken the party’s principal mode of attack: Insult, smear and ridicule the opposition.
Markey’s latest TV commercial accuses Gomez of leaving his toilet seat up. Another insult showing his true brand of divisive lying and slander.
Markey is no one to talk about honesty. He was caught up in a major ethics investigation in the 1991 House banking scandal after he had bounced 92 checks totaling $63,326, without penalties.
I trust a former Navy officer and Seal over the old leadership, accustomed to longevity and entrenched in power, like Markey.
