To the editor:
At the Timberlane Regional School Board meeting of June 5, Mr. Arthur Green spoke and raised many concerns. Two of the issues he brought up are:
1. Any transfer of funds over $5,000 between budget lines of the Timberlane Regional School District budget requires prior approval of the TRSB. Mr. Green stated that there have been many such transfers without prior approval.
2. New Hampshire RSAs prohibit spending “for any purpose for which no appropriation has been made.” Mr. Green stated that money has been spent on line items that were zero-funded in the district’s budget.
As citizens, I believe it is our duty to insist and insure that our tax dollars are spent properly.
I have been in contact with TRSB Chairman Nancy Steenson and have asked her about these issues. While Steenson quickly replied to my email, the above issues remain unexplained and certainly a cause for concern.
The cost of the Timberlane regional school budget amounts to approximately 70 percent of our taxes. I urge all citizens to get involved now, and to stay involved to insure that we are informed citizens and voters.
