To the editor:
When I first joined the North Andover Merchants Association I was excited by the energy and passion that a group of people had for helping our businesses and supporting our community. An organization that was only just forming, with a mission that was still being honed, I was honored to be elected as a member of its Board of Directors. It was in this role that I got to work with — and become quickly impressed by — Phil DeCologero.
Phil and I worked closely as members of NAMA’s board. With NAMA just a fledgling organization, Phil showed a talent for building bridges between business and for inspiring faith in the concept that NAMA represented — a concept that our local entrepreneurs were eager to embrace. It was due in great part to Phil’s tireless advocacy, organization, and the trust that our businesses placed in him, that the idea of NAMA became a reality.
When I think of the traits I want in a state representative, it is exactly the type of traits Phil embodied as a driving force behind the North Andover Merchants Association. Phil was a leader who we could trust to respect competing views, bring together competing interests, and work every day for the betterment of our community. I’ve seen Phil bring this same energy to other parts of the Merrimack Valley, and this is why I know Phil will be both honest and dedicated to the people and communities he serves.
On Sept. 9, voters will be heading to the polls to cast their ballots in the Democratic primary. As you consider the many races on the ballot please join me in casting a vote for Phil as our nominee for state representative.
