Sound Off

Poor Hillary

Haven’t heard a word about former first lady Hillary Clinton telling all of us about her extreme poverty. She told Diane Sawyer she was dead broke when she left the White House. Maybe she had to pawn the furniture.

Getting involved

I tripped and fell in a Salem parking lot. I was shopping alone but am so grateful to everyone who made sure that I was not truly alone. A kind woman, I believe her name was Sharon, simply took charge and stayed with me and kept me calm. She notified a store manager and whatever needed to be done, was done. An ambulance soon arrived and I was taken to the hospital. I am so grateful to her and those who got involved to help me. There are times when any one of us may be in a similar situation and ask ourselves, “Should we get involved and offer help?” Please, offer your help. It can make such a difference. My most sincere gratitude to all who stopped to assist.

Lost votes

I have been a Republican voter all 80 years of my life. The Garcia sisters vote on the casino bill went against 80 percent of the people who voted for them as if that meant nothing. I and all my family will never vote Republican again. There are many more like us.

Providing cover

A recent Sound-off titled “IRS scandal” was right about the quagmire of scandals surrounding the Obama administration and said, “we need a Woodward and Bernstein.” The sad reality is there will never be Woodward or a Bernstein because the national media has been providing cover for the Democrats for decades. If Nixon were a Democrat, Watergate would have been a 30-second spot on the local news. If you have any doubt, look at the months of coverage Gov. Chris Christie’s “Bridgegate” got and how little coverage there has been in regards to all of the “Obamagates” the White House has been involved in.
