To the editor:
The first time I met Martha Coakley was in early 2010 during her campaign against Scott Brown. I did not think she would remember me the next time I saw her, last September — three and a half years later. The Haverhill Democratic City Committee was having our annual breakfast Martha was coming. I went to the breakfast and looked up front but could not see Martha. Then I looked to my left, and there she was. I was so surprised. She came in, noticed me sitting among about 200 people and came over.
Although she knew me by sight, I still didn’t think she knew my name. Wrong again. No sooner did I sign up on the web site to help with the campaign than I got a phone call from a Mr. James Greene from the Coakley Campaign. Martha Coakley has an incredible memory. She meets people for a few minutes and remembers them just like that. It’s something very important for anybody in community service.
Martha will work for the middle class just as Gov. Patrick has done for the past eight years. That’s why he’s such an excellent governor! We have come a long way since than. Who wants to go back there? We don’t need to become another New Jersey or Wisconsin.
