Letter: Our choice: Follow founders' laws or live under tyranny

To the editor:

I consider myself fortunate to be the son of immigrants because, for one reason, it gave me a little more insight into what it was like living under even a very mild form of oppression, as they did.

On more than a few occasions, my grandparents warned me that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner and someday, even in this nation, many would take their freedoms for granted.

The framers of our Constitution believed that individual freedom comes from a higher authority, not from any government, and a quick look around the globe soon reveals how unique this idea truly is.

I believe that from years of ignoring our founders' warnings, we now have reached a point where we have only two choices: Either we begin following our founding fathers' laws and teachings or we can stay the course and learn to live under tyranny.
