Letter: What happened to presumption of innocence?

To the editor:

I was disappointed in reading on Page 2 of the Saturday, July 20, Eagle-Tribune that the paper has joined with other publications to unseal Aaron Hernandez’s court-sealed records.

This is not being done to “fully and fairly inform the public” but to go on a witchhunt. And although the evidence would support the charges against him, this is America, where people are innocent until proven guilty.

I have been amazed at how rapidly and how much the media has gone out of their way to report every piece of dirt, wrongdoing and other previously thought to be insignificant happenings about Hernandez.

Leave the kid alone. Let him have his day in court.

Don’t join these other muckrakers.
