---- — Hot feet
To the woman who stole my Teva sandles at Latitude in Methuen Saturday afternoon: I had to walk on the hot tar with nothing on my feet. I am 70 years old. I hope you are proud of yourself. What a low thing to do.
In a few months the basketball season will start and just maybe there will be new rules. Here is one I hope will change and make it more interesting. It doesn’t take too much to slam dunk a ball when a man is around 7-feet tall. Therefore, a slam dunk should be one point, a regular shot two points and one way out there three points. It will slow down all the traffic around the basket and give the players who can shoot a chance. I would like to hear some take on this.
I hope Kate and William’s baby comes soon. Poor Queen Elizabeth is anxious to get away to Scotland!
Counting the dead
While the nation was fixated on the trial of George Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, many were left wondering when the media would tell their similarly tragic stories of lives lost to gun violence. During the trial, over 50 people’s lives came to an end in shootings in Chicago alone -- many of them black and many of them teenagers, just like Trayvon.
Clinton vs. Bush
The conservative Sound Off commenter who ended with the statement that America deserves much better than another Clinton has not been following what is going on in this country. Sir, you do realize that Clinton left us with a lot more money in the till than Junior Bush, who spent it all and left us with a deficit.
President Obama continues to mouth off so no one notices what a terrible job he is doing as president. He recently stated that “there are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store.” Mr. President, do your job, stop causing trouble in our country! Solve some of our country’s problems and stop increasing the unrest in America!
I am not surprised that Detroit has gone bankrupt. The powers that be down through the years should be ashamed and full of guilt for letting this happen. The population of this city used to be 4 million. It’s now down to 700,000. This is what happens when there is too much freedom with no discipline.
Under the bus
As a parent of three high school students, I am upset to think Andover took the easy way out in the Jen Meager appeal. To not challenge the ruling and take it to the appellate court is a true disservice to the Andover community. As for Jen Meager and her antics, she certainly had no problem challenging our high school accreditation and throwing our kids under the bus now, did she? It’s simple, Ms. Meager, we don’t want you back. You may hide behind your union rules, but on that day you were completely, morally wrong wanting to create leverage over our children.
