---- — To the editor:
Now that the City of Methuen is going to be resurfacing Pelham Street, it would be a good time to straighten out the center line going by the baseball field (Potter’s Field).
This has been a nuisance since it was done to allow the field’s attendees to park on the street. The result is that people open doors into the flow of traffic and stand in the street and talk to people in other vehicles. As anyone who drives Pelham Street regularly knows, this is a constant problem and causes westbound traffic to cross the double line to avoid hitting anyone.
My suggestion is to straighten out the center line, install 10-minute parking signs along the ball field to allow equipment unloading and right-side passenger exit.
The parking lot next to the field has more than enough spaces to accommodate the players and spectators’ vehicles.
This would eliminate a traffic hazard and provide safety for drivers, baseball players and spectators.
