Sound Off

Last week began with crowds of happy people lined up on both sides of the street cheering on marathon runners and celebrating Patriots Day. Then tragedy struck. And yet it all ended with crowds of people lining the streets again! This time cheering in gratitude and pride for the law enforcement men and women who worked incessantly and even giving their lives to bring us justice and peace.

Boston: Your courage and humanity transcends tenacity!

I have questions. Which is more important to us, the voting public? Is it the out of control costs of health care, insurance, food or gas? Is it the fact that if we are lucky enough to have a job we haven’t received a raise in five or more years? Is it gay marriage, or a woman’s right to terminate her own pregnancy? Are we being manipulated into fighting amongst ourselves over these issues so that we won’t demand that those elected also have the same issues rather than having so many perks and benefits and salary increases that they are not affected? Also, would the gun control law that failed to pass have prevented that Connecticut mother from obtaining her guns and having them end up in the hands of her son? Will term limits and voting out whatever party is currently in at every election henceforth send enough of a message to fix this?

It was a travesty that Obama was allowed to talk at an interfaith service in a Catholic church. He has gone out of his way, in Obamacare, to force Catholics to go against their faith and he has consistently shown disdain for all Christians.

Gun bill

To the caller who said that senators who voted against the gun control bill will have blood on their hands: Why don’t you actually learn the facts? There are already background check laws on the books. The problem is that even though thousands of people who are criminals have failed background checks, only 44 have been prosecuted. Also, where is your outrage at the murders of children every day in Chicago? That doesn’t get any attention because it doesn’t fit the Democrats’ narrative. This bill was only the start of trying to take guns from law-abiding citizens.
