To the editor:
Even though the Democratic primary for state representative is not until Sept. 9, I am excited to see that Phil DeCologero has announced his candidacy.
I’ve known Phil for years, and have had the opportunity to work with him on multiple occasions. I have been so impressed by his dedication to the community and eagerness to take on projects big and small to improve the quality of life here in Methuen. I’ve watched him lead Mayor Zanni’s efforts on such projects as the Methuen Arbor Group and Methuen Restaurant Week.
While I observed Phil working hard in his official capacity, I’ve also seen him invest himself in our city on a personal level. This includes organizing Methuen’s first Italian Festival, which raised thousands of dollars for local nonprofits.
The most important role of a state representative is to be a community advocate. Phil has always made time to speak with me about issues that are important to me and I know that he will continue to do so as our state representative. Phil’s dedication to our city and his solid work ethic make me confident that he will excel as our state representative.
