---- — Pig and kitty
How wonderful to see a heartwarming story on the front page of today’s paper (Monday, Sept. 24) about the pig who saved the kitty in the fire. Thank you for starting my day off with a smile.
Fit to scream
Mitt Romney is correct on the subsidies. It’s just that he has the guts to say it. I’ve walked in downtown Haverhill during the middle of the day and I want to scream, "Isn’t anybody working?"
The recently released video of comments made to a group of wealthy contributors shows that Mitt Romney is an elitist who views with contempt those Americans who do not pay federal income tax — a group which includes many families earning less than $50,000 a year as well as many senior citizens on Social Security.
Gold spoon Mitt
In response to the comment Mitt Romney made on TV about the people of America: Well, not all people were born with a gold spoon in their mouths like him. Some people have to work for a living. And we have compassion for people who were not born rich. Everything was handed to him.
I’d like to know why Mitt Romney should be in trouble for saying something out loud that 53 percent of the American people are thinking. So just remember, those in the 53 percent, who to vote for at election time.
I’m calling to say that I agree 100 percent with Gov. Romney’s statement at a fundraiser that there are too many people living in the age of entitlement and that’s got to stop. President Obama is keeping all of those people on the dole to get reelected.
I wanted to compliment Adolf Giger of Groveland for his exceptional letter to the editor ("It's time to end Obama's socialist experiment," Sept. 18). It’s right on. He has the facts at his command and I do hope that a lot of people will read it.
Stand up, council
I’d like to thank and compliment The Eagle-Tribune for telling the truth about the so-called mayor of Lawrence. I was born in Lawrence and proud of it. All of those good politicians that we had on the council years ago would have run a guy like him out of town in a heartbeat. I don’t understand why this council doesn’t stand up to him. Forget the friendship and do what’s right for the city of Lawrence.
How can it be that our government requires that every citizen must prove that they are insured but not everybody must prove that they are a citizen?
I see in the paper that Patrick Blanchette is having his own private Watergate moment. It would be a great thing if he were to own up to his transgressions and not try to hide behind the 5th Amendment.
