Letter: At-large choices are important for Lawrence council

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — To the editor:

Not only are we Lawrencians voting for our favorite candidate for mayor to make our city better, just as importantly is the race for city councilor-at-large.

We get to vote for three candidates in this race and here are the three that I believe who will work very hard and tirelessly to help make our city better.

My first vote is a candidate who is running for re-election and that is Councilor Roger Twomey. Roger and I have not always agreed on everything and that is perfectly fine with me. The only one I know that always agrees with me is me and I am not on the ballot. But this I know for sure about Roger, he loves the City of Lawrence and his heart is always in the right place. He makes decisions and votes what he believes is in the best interest of the city and not what is in his own best interest and that my friends is what makes a good councilor.

My second vote goes to former City Councilor Modesto Maldonado. He proved time and time again when he was on the council that he does his homework and tries his best to always put the cities interest first, again making him a good councilor.

My third and last vote goes to a new comer to elected office in the city but not new to being a city activist. This is none other than Wendy Luzon. She has a good business background, a quality that would be very welcomed on the council.

I believe that these three working together on our City Council in concert with our district councilors would be exactly what our city needs putting our best foot forward in making Lawrence better.
