Simply stated, the introductory phrase, “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state”, serves to modify, limit, and explain the purpose of the main clause, which states, “the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” How can anyone misconstrue the intention of “the right”? Similarly, one can suggest that a well-regulated heating system being necessary to the warmth and comfort of a home, the right to store and burn oil shall not be infringed. The right to bear arms rests on the need for a well-regulated militia as the right to store and burn oil rests on the need for heat and comfort. Any questions as to sentence structure?
So are the latest young lads who are charged in the Marathon bombing case here on scholarships that we taxpayers granted them? And were they also on food stamps and using all the rest of the largesse that the American public pays for? When will this stop? Maybe now, Gov. Deval Patrick will begin to see that their “privacy” does not supersede our rights since we foot the bill! Perhaps it’s time to do a complete and wise overhaul of these “entitlements” that we so glibly throw around to all the world. Perhaps it’s time to rein in these dollars that are so easily collected by the undeserving who have done nothing to add to our nation but who come here to hurt us!
What kind of vipers are we allowing in this country under the guise of student visas. These young people come here on scholarship — that means we pay for their education and quite often their living expenses while they are here — and they take up spaces and money that our own kids need to further their educations at our taxpayer supported universities. We are repaid by them blowing us up and then obstructing justice. If you have information that would lead to the capture and conviction of a mass murderer, and you do not give that information to the police, that means that you agree with what that murderer did. What in the world is going on here, and why in the world are we allowing this to continue? We need to wake up and take back control of our resources and destiny!
I see now that two Methuen councilors are feeling threatened by a union president. It just so happens one councilor is running for mayor and the other is running for re-election. It’s time for these two to put on their big boy and girls pants and stop trying to blame others for this mess by pointing fingers. Start pointing fingers at yourselves first, your making a joke of Methuen by your behavior. So much for transparency and above-board behavior. All that’s accomplished with this council is more shame and in the end probably more lawsuits. Shame to all that are involved in this mess! It’s really sad that there are maybe two or three councilors who stand up for what’s right and the rest are just out to feed their egos.
