---- — Missing Laboy
Over the years, I have always been one of Mr. Laboy’s biggest critics. I never, ever thought that I would be saying this. I wish he were back running the School Department. We miss you, Wilfredo.
An excellent article that may not be politically correct by Taylor Armerding (”Good for Jayson Collins, but he wasn’t being courageous,” Sunday Eagle-Tribune). Fine if Collins admits being gay. Really it doesn’t matter to me one way or the other. But a hero? And a call from the president? And constant coverage in every source of media for days? Don’t see it myself.
The 9-11 memorial museum in Lower Manhattan wants to charge a mandatory entrance fee. Why don’t we take the cash the CIA is giving to Afghan President Hamid Karzai and allow Americans to visit the museum for free?
To “Second Amendment” and others who continue to parse the language in the amendment: Could perhaps “well regulated” mean licensing, registration or even requiring background checks? And could “well regulated militia” mean official enrollment in some form of properly recognized organization with a well-defined purpose for the security of the state?
I just read the letter on not blaming President Obama for everything. It amazes me how short Democrats’ memories are. Where was the writer when every one, including Obama, blamed everything on George Bush? Oh, that’s right it’s OK when the people on the left blame George Bush for everything. Democrats were for everything before they were against it!
Obama recently told his good friends at Planned Parenthood that without them, women would be on their own. Apparently, he has never heard of crisis pregnancy centers. There are more than 3,500 of them providing care for women and their babies. They are funded mostly by private donations. Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, has less than half that number of clinics and gets $500 million a year from the federal government to provide what are somewhat questionable women’s health services. Obama has again shown he is either uniformed or wears blinders.
The 51st state
President Obama was in Mexico last week and during his speech thanked the Mexican people for helping to elect him. I didn’t know foreign nationals could vote in U.S. elections. Or maybe Obama thinks Mexico is the 51st state he mentioned in the 2008 campaign. I thought gaffes were Biden’s job.
Now they check
Now that there are five dead people and hundreds who have had their lives torn to nits, the Department of Homeland Security people are finally going to do what we are paying them to do: Check student visas to find those that have expired. Isn’t this what they are getting a salary for, to keep the United States safe? We are fools if we keep pouring billions of dollars into the hands of these people and we allow them to get away with not doing their jobs, yet they are first in line with their hands out for raises and pensions.
