To the editor:
For 17 years, I have had the privilege of serving as chairman for the Sandown Lions Club’s annual yard sales. This project over that time has raised more than $15,000, which not only funded a yearly scholarship for a graduating senior from our community but also supported dozens of other local needs.
This past September, a motor vehicle accident destroyed the building that over the years has housed our inventory. This accident has forced the Sandown Lions to discontinue this project as a fundraiser as we no longer have a storage facility.
The Sandown Lions would like to thank everyone who has donated items over the years that helped us to accomplish what we did. Some of you were annual donors saving your “treasures” for us. We also would like to thank our customers, whom we saw year after year, for coming and supporting us by attending our sales.
Personally I would like to thank all the members of the club who supported this project and worked so hard picking up donations, setting up, manning the sale and breaking it all down. We are busy developing other projects to help replace the income that we generated from the yard sales. Our Lions’ motto is: “We Serve.”
We still need and appreciate your support as we continue our efforts.
