Historical Society supports plan for Bradstreet School

To the editor:

On May 13,2013, Oakgrove Residential Developers presented a plan for the Bradstreet School site which fulfilled all the RFP requirements as outlined by the North Andover selectmen.

The Oakgrove plan would enhance downtown Main Street by creating 10 to 13 housing units in the school and also providing two retail building along Main Street, with a landscaped plaza between them.

The North Andover Historical Commission strongly supports the Oakgrove plan, which preserves the facade of the historic Bradstreet School and fulfills the RFP requirements established by the selectmen. This is a “win-win plan” for North Andover that will enhance Main Street and also preserve an important part of the town’s historical heritage.

The mission of the North Andover Historical Commission is to preserve and protect our town’s history. The duty of the selectmen is to make decisions which will benefit our town. We strongly believe that the adoption of the Oakgrove Residential Developers plan would fulfill both of these responsibilities.
