To the editor:
I had the pleasure to work alongside Maura Chiardiello while working in the Family Literacy Program for the Haverhill Public School System. Our program was unique as we had both parent and their children attending. What a great opportunity to see Maura exhibit such compassion for our students and their children. Her strengths as the children’s teacher were addressing each individual child’s strengths and weaknesses to have the best enriched classroom experience they could have.
Maura has the vision for what is right for Haverhill. She attended Haverhill public schools, went on to earn her master’s degree and then returned to teach in the Haverhill Public School System. As a prior Haverhill High School student and teacher she has the perfect blend to see the issues from both sides. Now a mother to three children who also will be attending the Haverhill public schools she adds one more dimension to address the overall needs for each citizen.
Maura has what it takes to make a classroom successful; she knows the importance of having pride in our existing structures to ensure our children’s children have the same opportunities we had. Being a parent herself, she will ensure that each child gets the enrichment they need to experience a successful Haverhill public school education.
Not only am I a lifelong resident of Bradford, but also a parent of a child who attended Haverhill public schools. I couldn’t think of a better, more qualified person to be on the school committee. She has the drive and ambition to get the job done.
