Sound Off

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — Funny how?

Sound Off used to be funny. Everybody venting about stupid stuff. Now it is all about politics. Boring.

Now that’s funny

Seriously? Someone stole my trash! I am still in disbelief. I put my yard waste out Sunday night after 8 in my plastic garbage cans. Most of them are pretty beat up except for one fairly new one. This morning, I saw a gap between my neatly lined up trash cans. Someone stole my full trash can! Now that’s pathetic.

Hook him

If only this were vaudeville days, we could just grab “The Hook” and pull Willy off the stage. His act is over.

‘X’ factor

To Mr. Lantigua: Time to add the “X” in front of your “MAYOR” vanity plate!

Praise her

Sen. O’Connor Ives deserves praise not criticism for her vote against the minimum wage increase. She voted in the best interest of her district and small businesses instead of the interests of Beacon Hill. Thank you, senator, for listening to the people of your district and not simply voting party lines.

The strangler

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, we witness the classless, arrogant mayor of Lawrence refusing to acknowledge the recount. When he had a choice to be a decent man and give Rivera the win, he can’t let go. It shows to me the stranglehold he has on the city and some of its residents.

Dumb, dumb, dumb

This hijacking of the American health care system is outrageous and should be stopped immediately. If you are young and in your right mind, why in the world would you ever want to double or triple your health care premiums for things you don’t need, don’t want and can’t afford because you don’t have a job? And the president insured that this would happen by allowing people under 26 to stay on their family’s plan. This is about control of the health care system and nothing else, certainly not your family’s physical and economic health.

Cherry-picked

I am, admittedly, not a scholar of the law, but I cannot believe that it is legal for a president to pick and choose what parts of the law he chooses to enact and what parts he wants to delay as a political favor or to shore up the mid-term elections. Can someone out there please tell me how this is legal and how he is able to get away with it? One man surely cannot control the enactment of the law unimpeded. At least not in the United States of America. At least that’s how it used to be. So sad.

Softies

Will the coming 100 million health insurance cancellations as a result of Obamacare cause Americans to rise up? Or has the modern American become so soft that he will take the beating and lay down? And don’t be fooled by any delays until after the 2014 mid-term elections.

Give it up

To “Teflon” Mayor Lantiua: We all knew your corruptness would eventually be your downfall. Your warped followers, who condoned your behavior, were outnumbered by the good people who want to see Lawrence move forward. Give it up, Willie, and take defeat like a man if it’s possible!
